Maha: Govt considering use of AI on experimental basis in agriculture sector

Mumbai, Feb 3 (Reporter) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Monday directed the Agriculture Department to coordinate with the Cooperation Department on use of artificial intelligence (AI) on an experimental basis in agriculture sector to boost production. Presiding over a meeting organised in the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office on use of AI in the agriculture sector in the state, he said the use of artificial intelligence on an experimental basis in agriculture sector is under consideration to bring about a revolution in the lives of farmers in the state. The use of AI in agriculture sector is going to be mandatory in coming days to increase agricultural production and save the production costs of farmers. The use of AI in agriculture sector will make it possible to analyse crop health, find out the carbon content in the soil, information on soil health, identify type of weeds, compare previous yields, soil temperature, atmospheric humidity, identify the incidence of pests and diseases on crops, and identify biotic and abiotic stresses on crops, Pawar added.
