Maha: Guardian Minister directs Sangli police to make district 'drug free'

Sangli, Jan 31 (Reporter) Maharashtra and District Guardian Minister, Chandrakant Patil, on Friday laid emphasis on making the district 'drug free' and directed the police authorities to be vigilant in this regard. Presiding over a review meeting of the law and order situation in the district at the police headquarters in the wake of seizure of huge quantity of MD drugs worth Rs 30 crore in Karve MIDC area near Vita city in the district on January 28, he said, "More focus is being placed on making the district a 'drug-free district' and the police system should be vigilant in this regard with thorough investigation and identify the root cause of the matter. Strict action should be taken against the culprits." Expressing serious concern over widespread use of narcotic drugs, he sought people's help in providing information received in such cases to the police force in a timely manner. Social organisations should take initiative in creating public awareness about ill effects of drugs and contact the police to explain their concept in this regard, he added...////...
