Mumbai, Dec 19 (Reporter) The Bombay High Court on Thursday upheld Shiv Sena (Shinde) group MP Ravindra Waikar's narrow win over his rival Sena-UBT candidate Amol Kirtikar in Lok Sabha election while dismissing the latter's petition challenging former's win in parliamentary election.
They had contested the election from the Mumbai North-West constituency, in which Waikar won the election by a narrow margin of 48 votes.
In the election petition, Kirtikar had urged the high court to set aside Waikar's election as the member of parliament and declare his win as “null and void”.
Kirtikar had further sought that he be declared as the duly elected candidate from the said constituency.
His plea claimed that he had sought a recount of the votes on the counting day itself as there was a discrepancy.
Justice Sandeep Marne, presiding over the case, ruled against the petition without providing grounds for dismissal...////...
