Mumbai, Jun 24 (Reporter) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Nana Patole on Monday demanded that the BJP-led state government should immediately increase the prices of milk for milk-producing farmers while threatening to launch agitation to give justice to farmers.
Talking to media persons at party head office here, he claimed that once again, it has been revealed that the BJP-led government in Maharashtra is anti-farmer.
The prices of milk in various states fetches up to Rs 45 per litre for farmers but in Maharashtra, they get only Rs 27 per litre, he said and informed that the same milk is being sold by Amul and other milk companies at Rs 55 to Rs 60 per litre to consumers.
The BJP-Shinde government in the state is robbing milk-producing farmers who have contributed immensely in the white revolution, the MPCC chief alleged.
The prices of feed for cows and buffaloes have gone up sharply, but the procurement prices of milk are still low, he said and suggested that the looting of farmers should be stopped by increasing these rates.
Fulfilling the promise made by the Congress party to farmers, the Congress government in Telangana has waived off the loans of farmers to the tune of Rs two lakh, he noted.
Patole demanded that the BJP-Eknath Shinde government should also announce loan waiver for farmers of Maharashtra in upcoming Monsoon session of the state Legislature, which is scheduled to commence on June 27...////...
