Mumbai, Oct 2 (Reporter) The Thane police have busted a major prostitution racket in Ulhasnagar town of the neighbouring Thane district and rescued 15 foreign national women (all natives of Bangkok, Thailand), who were reportedly lured to India with false promises of lucrative jobs and were allegedly forced into prostitution, an official said here on Wednesday.
Acting on receipt of the confidential information, a team of Anti-Extortion Cell of neighbouring Thane police raided Sitara Lodge at Ulhasnagar and rescued the women as well as arrested four people, including the manager of the lodge, and booked them under charges of human trafficking and related offences, police said.
Police stated that the victims were subjected to forced labour and sexual exploitation.
