Mumbai, Feb 11 (Reporter) Senior Marathi novelist, rural narrator and Prof R R Borade died of old age on
Tuesday morning at MGM hospital in Chhatrapti Sambhajinagar.
He was 85.
His novel Pachola, published about 55 years ago, was a huge hit.
Last week, his name was announced for the Vinda Karandikar Lifetime Achievement Award of the state government.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed grief over the demise of Prof R R Borade, saying that it is sad that Prof Borade passed away before accepting the Vinda Karandikar Lifetime Achievement Award.
In his condolence message, he said that Prof Borade added value to the Marathi literature with his authentic rural literary works.
He gave strength to the rural literary movement and its various currents, added Fadnavis.
Marathi Language Minister Uday Samant paid tributes to the senior literary figure, rural commentator and novelist R R Borade, saying that the Marathi literary world has lost a talented writer with his death.
In his condolence message, Samant stated that his creative penmanship unfolded many aspects of rural life, captured the spirit of community and made the readers introspective.
