Maha: Minister Patil expresses displeasure over Marathi actress' name in controversy over Sarpanch Deshmukh's murder case

Kolhapur, Dec 29 (Reporter) Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil on Sunday expressed his strong displeasure over dragging of Marathi TV and film actress Prajakta Mali in a raging controversy over brutal murder of Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh in Beed district. Notably, BJP MLA Suresh Dhas has dragged the name of Ms Mali in Deshmukh murder case, saying that she (Mali) was familiar with Parli (minister Dhananjay Munde's hometown and constituency). Dhas' remark went viral on Friday. Following which, Ms Mali on Saturday strongly objected to his remark and demanded that he should tender a public apology. Talking to reporters here on his first visit to the city after becoming cabinet minister, he said, "We live in the state where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj established his Kingdom and who always took care of women and never cast aspersions on a woman's character. Therefore, it was wrong to drag the name of actress Prajakta Mali in the Sarpanch Deshmukh murder case, he noted. The BJP leader noted that MLA Dhas, who is an aggressive leader from Beed district, was taking a stance on the entire issue and said that he will advise MLA Dhas not to pull the actress' name in this political feud. Asked whether minister Dhananjay Munde who is allegedly involved in Deshmukh murder case, will be asked to resign from the post, Patil replied that it is up to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who has right to take a decision on this issue, he added...////...
