Mumbai, Dec 2 (Reporter) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Nana Patole on Monday criticised the ruling BJP on the issue of recruitment of government workers on contract.
In a press statement here, he said that there are nearly 2.5 lakh government posts vacant in the state and informed that the backlog of backward class posts in various departments has also not been filled.
Also, it has been 10 days since declaration of the assembly election results but the post of chief minister of the state is still vacant, he quipped.
While there is a large army of unemployed people in the state and lakhs of young men and women are waiting for jobs, the government has once again started recruitment on contract and has failed to fulfil its promise of hiring educated youth, he claimed.
The MPCC chief asserted that the Congress party is strongly opposed to recruitment of employees on a contract basis and recalled that earlier, the BJP alliance government had strongly opposed recruitment of workers on contract.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, while in the previous government, had announced that he would not allow recruitment on contract and even had cancelled the decision of recruiting workers on contract on October 31, 2023, he reminded.
Despite this, the government had allowed recruitment of clerks and typists through the Health department and State Public Service Commission (MPSC) on contractual basis, he said and pointed to a difference between actions and narratives of BJP.
Patole alleged that the BJP government has already started the work of robbing the public and is considering of recruiting government workers on contract and also to hike ST fare.
