Mumbai, Nov 19 (Reporter) Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole has urged the Election Commission of India to take strict action against BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde for allegedly distributing money in Virar town of neighbouring Palghar district on Tuesday.
There were reports of government machinery being used by the ruling party in the elections and logistics being sent in police vehicles, but now it has come to notice that money was distributed to people of Virar, he alleged in a press statement.
The MPCC chief said that since the BJP-Shinde government is staring at defeat, now they are trying to win the elections by buying votes of the people with the help of money earned from corruption, exposing the real face of BJP.
He further said that Tawade brought Rs five crore cash in the hotel and news of the same was also shown on various news channels.
This type of distribution of money in Virar is very serious, he noted.
The Election Commission should show that all are equal under the rule of law by taking a fair, transparent and strict action without coming under pressure from anyone, he said.
"It is the duty of the Election Commission to conduct the assembly elections in a fair and transparent manner, but in view of events that occurred in the past month, action was not taken against the ruling parties but only against the opposition parties," Patole added...////...
