Mumbai, Aug 7 (Reporter) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Nana Patole on Wednesday sought to downplay Shiv Sena-UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray's visit to Delhi, saying he is meeting senior Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi in Delhi and there is no need to draw a different meaning from this meeting.
Talking to media here after a meeting of Congress leaders, he said that Sonia Gandhi is an important person in the country who refused the post of prime minister and under her leadership, the Congress-led UPA government was in power in the country twice.
"If Thackeray is meeting her, what is wrong with that," he asked.
He said that in Maha Vikas Aghadi, the decision on allotment of seats will be based on merit and pointed that there will be a discussion with Thackeray and NCP-SP president Sharad Pawar at the time of finalisation of seats for upcoming state assembly election.
"We are facing this election together as a Maha Vikas Aghadi and after the election, the candidate for the Chief Minister's post will be decided," he clarified and said that NCP-SP president Sharad Pawar has also echoed a similar sentiment.
There will be a discussion with Thackeray and Sharad Pawar at the time of finalisation of seats for upcoming state assembly election, he informed.
On this occasion, the MPCC chief criticised the grand alliance (Mahayuti) for allegedly breaching public trust and selling Maharashtra to Gujarat.
He said that Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis says that the public forgets, but the self-respecting people of Maharashtra have not forgotten the sin of the grand alliance government of selling Maharashtra to Gujarat, he further said.
For this, people of Maharashtra have given a rude shock to the grand alliance in the Lok Sabha election despite self-proclaimed Vishwaguru (Narendra Modi) held 17 public meetings in the state, he noted.
He expressed that people will again give the price of betrayal of public trust to the grand alliance in the assembly election.
Speaking on law and order situation in the state, Patole charged that there is no law and order in the state, alleging that the BJP-led state government gives shelter to hooligans and drug mafia.
He claimed that women are not safe in the state, where 15,000 girls and women are missing.
He also alleged that five-star facilities are being provided to prisoners at Taloja Jail, which means that it is clear that the grand alliance government is supporting gangsters, he added...////...
