Maha: MPCC chief slams Mahayuti Govt over CAG report

Mumbai, Jul 13 (Reporter) Reacting over the CAG report, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Nana Patole on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Mahayuti government, alleging that it has pushed the state to the brink of bankruptcy. The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG)'s scathing criticism of the Mahayuti government's chaotic administration has exposed the hollowness of the government's grand claims, he said. Expressing that the state's debt burden of Rs eight lakh crore is a matter of grave concern, he said that while the government is seeking supplementary demands and supporting additional loans, the CAG has given the same warning that the opposition had issued to the corrupt Mahayuti government. However, the power-drunk government which ignored the opposition's warnings, has now been slammed by the CAG, he noted while emphasising that CAG has also pointed out the financial indiscipline of the state. The MPCC president alleged that ever since the three party Mahayuti government came to power in the state, corruption has become rampant in all departments. "Their policy is 'Give commissions, take tenders', projects worth thousands of crores of rupees have been started to fill the pockets of contractor friends, benefiting the government's friends rather than the state," he charged. In last two years, this government had borrowed over Rs 2.5 lakh crore, resulting in the state's debt mounting to Rs eight lakh crore, he claimed. This debt amounts to 18.73 per cent of the state's gross fiscal revenue, which is higher than the provisions of the fiscal law, he noted.
