Kolhapur, Sep 2 (Reporter) President Droupadi Murmu on Monday underscored the need of strengthening cooperative institutions in the country considering its valuable contribution to and important role they play in the democratic system. While addressing golden jubilee celebrations of Warana Women Co-operative group of Warana Group at Warnanagar in Panhala tehsil of the district this afternoon in the presence of Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, she said that there are many cooperative institutions in the country and appealed the young generation to participate in its activities in order to strengthen these institutions. The government was trying to uplift social position of women and many institutions were working towards this end, she said. Noting that the women's progress is crucial for the country's development and progress, Ms Murmu emphasised the need of bringing all women on the path of progress. Besides this function, the President presided over various programmes of Warana Group and praised Warnanagar Group, which is ahead in many sectors including milk production.
