Maha: Newly elected Mahayuti MLAs take oath, 41 Oppn MLAs boycott

Mumbai, Dec 7 (Reporter) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis along with two Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar took oath as members of new Maharashtra Assembly here on Saturday. Other newly elected members of Mahayuti also took oath in a special session of the Legislative Assembly. However, 49 MLAs of the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance boycotted the ceremony by staging a walkout of the lower house on issue of alleged tampering of EVMs (electronic voting machines). Fadnavis, Shinde and Pawar were administered the oath by the Assembly's Pro-tem Speaker Kalidas Kolambkar soon after the proceedings of the House began today. Later, other Mahayuti MLAs were also administered oath by Kolambkar. Girish Mahajan and Seema Hire took oath of office in Sanskrit.
