Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Aug 11 (Reporter) Activist Mohammad Hisham Osmani, the petitioner in Aurangabad rename case in Supreme Court, said on Sunday that he would have to fight a political battle along with the court battle.
Addressing a press conference here along with his legal team, he said that both the blocs in Maharashtra, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and the Mahayuti (grand alliance) have supported the renaming of Aurangabad as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
"Along with the court battle, we have to fight the political battle as well in upcoming assembly election," he said.
"We first filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the change of name of Aurangabad, before another petitioner Mushtaq Ahmed filed a petition on behalf of Maharashtra Anti Name Change Action Committee. The bench took up his petition before our petition and the hearing on it was held on August nine," he said.
"We approached the Supreme Court to have both the petitions heard together. On that day, the lawyer who filed the petition was not present in the court. Due to this, the court rejected the petition while expressing displeasure," Osmani further said.
"Our petition is expected to be heard in the Supreme Court in 10 to 15 days. We are ready to appoint a senior counsel. We will fight till our last breath to save the name of Aurangabad," he added...////...
