Mumbai, Oct 5 (Reporter) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off first phase of Mumbai Metro Line-3 from Bandra-
Kurla Complex to the Aarey-Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road section, a project costing around Rs 14,120 crore and one of the first underground metro project of the state.
Mumbai Metro Line-3 is a key public transport project to improve commuting between Mumbai city and its suburbs.
Fully operational line-3 is expected to cater to about 12 lakh passengers daily while it will mark a significant milestone for the city's transportation system, as it will launch the Aqua Line's first phase.
The 12-kilometre stretch connects Aarey Colony to Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and will feature 10
operational stations.
The PM also laid the foundation stones of various initiatives of over Rs 32,800 crore, including the Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project and Elevated Eastern Freeway Extension.
He also laid the foundation stone of the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) project at an event in neighbouring city.
The Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project will be constructed at around Rs 12,200 crore. The total length of the project is 29 km with 20 elevated and two underground stations.
The project will not only improve the inter-connectivity within Thane city, but the corridor connecting major business hubs will provide an effective transport option for a large section of employees. The project is likely to be completed by 2029.
The Elevated Eastern Freeway Extension from Chheda Nagar to Anand Nagar, Thane, will provide seamless connectivity from south Mumbai to Thane.
The NAINA project costing around Rs 2,550 crore comprises the construction of major arterial roads, bridges, flyovers, underpasses and integrated utility infrastructure.
Beside this, the PM also laid the foundation stone of Thane Municipal Corporation building to be constructed at around Rs 700 crore...////...
