Jalna, Jul 20 (Reporter) Quota activist Manoj Jarange-Patil again started his indefinite hunger strike on Saturday at Antarwali Sarati village in Ambad taluka of the district to press for his demand of reservation for the Maratha community.
On July 13, Jarange-Patil had issued an ultimatum to the Maharashtra government to accept his nine demands including implementing ordinance of Sagesoyre by July 20, otherwise he will once again sit on hunger strike.
After expiry of the deadline, he has once again started his hunger strike.
Talking to newsmen at the site, Jarange-Patil said that he was forced to take this step as the state government did not fulfil his demands, including granting reservation to Marathas.
While criticising the state government on issue of reservation along with newly launched Ladki Bahin Yojana, he said that despite opposition from the members of the community to his fast unto death agitation, he has once again launched the hunger strike as the government has threatened the Marathas, he alleged.
The activist claimed that the children of the Maratha community are facing many difficulties in getting jobs and admission in educational institutions.
"We have given enough time to the government. We are firm on our demand of reservation. We have nothing to do with anyone's objections. The Marathas and Kunbis are one and the same. The law was enacted during the Sushilkumar Shinde's government in the state. Now amend it or make another law," he demanded.
Talking about the Ladki Bahin Yojana which promises to pay Rs 1,500 per month to women, he jabbed that the amount will not last for three days.
On his plans for upcoming assembly election, he said that we will take a decision on this issue on August 29 and in the meantime, he has asked the members of the community to prepare a detailed data of 288 assembly segments in the state.
Jarange-Patil announced that he will take out the second phase of his peace rally in parts of western Maharashtra region from August 7 and it will conclude in Nashik district of North Maharashtra on August 13...////...
