Nagpur, Nov 6 (Reporter) Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday made a fierce attack on BJP and its ideological parent the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), alleging that RSS cannot attack the Constitution directly, hence they are attacking in connivance. Speaking at the Respect Constitution (Samvidhan Sanmaan) conference in city, he said that the Constitution given to the country by Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar is not just a book but a mantra to live by. The Constitution has the voice of great men like Lord Buddha, Emperor Ashoka, Mahatma Basaveshwar, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotiba and Savitribai Phule. "Thoughts mentioned in the Constitution are thousands of years old, the Constitution respects all castes, religions and regions," he said and blamed both BJP and RSS for continuously attacking the Constitution. Continuing his blistering attack further, Rahul Gandhi charged that as RSS cannot attack the Constitution directly, they are attacking stealthily. If RSS had courage, it would have attacked from the front, he said in a jab. He further said that Dr Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi never talked about themselves but when they spoke, it was the voice of millions of people. "Development of all is mentioned in the Constitution. Because of the Constitution, there are primary education, higher education, IITs, IIMs, public hospitals," he noted. "In the Constitution one person one vote, every caste, religion, region is respected. But injustice is happening to 90 per cent of the people in the country every day, we are fighting against it. Ninety per cent of these people are in jails and at MGNREGA," he said. Advocating the need for caste-wise census, the Congress leader suggested that it is necessary to remove injustice. "When I talked about the caste-wise census, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused me of speaking the language of dividing the country. There is also a churning in the RSS on what stand to take on caste-wise census," he said. He expressed that the 50 per cent cap on reservation will also be removed. "If the farmers default in repayment of the loan, they are thrown in jail, on other hand, one who escapes abroad with a loan of crores of rupees is called an industrialist," he said mockingly. Five per cent of people are running the country, he added. Upon his arrival in Nagpur, Rahul Gandhi visited Diksha Bhoomi, the memorial of Dr Ambedkar, and paid his respect to architect of the Constitution. On this occasion, Maharashtra in-charge Ramesh Chennithala, state president Nana Patole, Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar, state vice-president Nana Gawande along with Congress officials and activists were present...////...
