Mumbai, Jan 23 (Reporter) Residents of Kurla and Mulund, both eastern suburbs of Mumbai, on Thursday staged strong protests against industrialist Gautam Adani alleging that the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP) has been given to him at nominal rate.
Hundreds of protesters, led by Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad, came on streets of Kurla since morning to convey their message to the BJP-led state government about their opposition to the proposed project. They also chanted slogans against Adani.
The protesters also alleged that few acres of land belonging to the Mother Dairy in this area was taken in the name of Dharavi Redevelopment Project.
Addressing a public rally, Ms Gaikwad alleged that in the name of rehabilitation of ineligible residents under the Dharavi Redevelopment Project, the Navbharat Mega Developers Private Limited (NMDPL) has requested several acres of land in Mumbai through DRP from the state government.
The state government has recently allotted 58 acres of land in Mulund for Dharavi Project, she added and called this allotment as 'illegal'...////...
