Mumbai, Aug 13 (Reporter) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday sanctioned a proposal of Rs 2,766 crore for 1,950 works to be carried out as effective countermeasures against natural calamities.
During the meeting of State Disaster Management Authority held here, he gave approval for various works which include crack prevention, lightning protection, flood protection wall, small bridges work, deepening of drains, recharging of ground water for drought relief, ponds repair and afforestation.
The Chief Minister assured that there will be no shortage of funds for these preventive measures against natural calamities.
He directed to carry out these disaster prevention measures in a timely and quality manner as the safety of citizens is of topmost priority.
Apart from this, it was decided in the meeting to update the State Emergency Response Centre in Mantralaya.
It was also decided to update the District Emergency Response Centre in each district at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore.
In addition to this, State Landslide Management Plan, Gram Panchayat Disaster Management Plan, Maharashtra State Heat Action Plan and the work of Palghar-Vasai underground power line were approved...////...
