Maha: Sena (UBT) candidate moves HC, seeks cancellation of BJP MP Narayan Rane’s election

Mumbai, Jul 13 (Reporter) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and former MP from the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg constituency in Maharashtra, Vinayak Raut, has filed an election petition before the Bombay High Court, seeking cancellation of the victory of BJP’s Narayan Rane from the said constituency in the recent Lok Sabha election. Raut, in a plea filed on Friday, claimed that Rane had won Lok Sabha election this year by “fraudulent means” and has demanded that Rane’s electoral win from the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg seat be cancelled and he be banned from contesting elections and voting for next five years. In his plea, the Sena (UBT) leader alleged that voters were threatened, and money were distributed and despite all these allegations were brought to the knowledge of the Election Commission, no action was taken and hence he moved the court.
