Maha: Sharad Pawar meets Shinde on reservation issue

Mumbai, Jul 22 (Reporter) NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar on Monday met Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde here to discuss issue of reservation. They both discussed issue of Maratha reservation during a long meeting, which was held at the Sahyadri guest house. A few days ago, state cabinet minister Chhagan Bhujbal met Sharad Pawar and requested him to mediate to resolve tension arisen between OBCs and Marathas over reservation. Pawar sought information from the Chief Minister on what assurance was given by the government to Maratha quota leader Manoj Jarange-Patil and OBC leader Laxman Hake. It is also said that the Chief Minister has solicited Pawar's guidance on what steps should be taken in future to resolve the issues between the Maratha and OBC communities over reservation. A few days ago, the state government had convened an all-party meeting to discuss the issue of reservation, but the leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadi skipped this meeting. The ruling Mahayuti (grand alliance) criticised the MVA leaders for it, alleging that they did not attend the meeting on request of Sharad Pawar. However, in a surprised move, Chhagan Bhujbal suddenly met Sharad Pawar and requested him to take initiative to pacify tense situation arisen over reservation issue.
