Nashik, Jan 7 (Reporter) Former state president of Sahakar Bharati and president of Nashik District Women's Bank, Dr. Shashitai Bhagwan Ahire (76), passed away here on Tuesday.
She is survived by two sons and three daughters.
Dr. Shashitai remained the president of the District Women's Cooperative Bank for two consecutive decades. She expanded the bank throughout the district. She created employment opportunities for the common man through the cooperative movement.
She was the director of the Maharashtra State Bank Federation. She also held the post of president of the Maharashtra Ayurveda Sammelan Sanghatana. Shashitai was educated at Ashtanga Ayurveda College in Pune.
She is known as the founder president of Renuka Nagari Patsanstha (credit society) and the former chairman of Renukanagar Housing Society. She worked for disabled students, women, and orphans in the cooperative sector. Shashitai was elected as the state president of Sahakar Bharati in the 2021 convention in Alandi. She was honoured with the Public Welfare Award by the Nashik Municipal Corporation for her contribution to the cooperative sector. Shashitai has been honoured by the Maharashtra State Urban Cooperative Bank Council, Girja Mahila Manch, Kalki Mahila Gruha Udyog, and Shri Gajanan Maharaj Seva Sanstha.
