Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nov 1 (Reporter) Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena (SS) spokesperson Sanjay Shirsat on Friday expressed his dismay over UBT MP Arvind Sawant's controversial statement against Shaina NC, who is contesting the Maharashtra Assembly election as an SS nominee. Taking part in a media interaction a couple of days ago, Sawant had allegedly called the fashionista-turned-politician an "imported maal" (imported product|) for having switched allegiance from the BJP to the Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Sawant's alleged comments have triggered a storm of protest in the election-bound state, though he later claimed that Shaina "misunderstood" his remark. Coming down heavily on Sawant, Shirsat wondered whether such language should be used against women and questioned whether the UBT MP had respect for women. Sawant's slur against Shaina NC has drawn the ire of the BJP and the Shinde group. "Sawant called Shaina NC an imported maal, this is his language. If Uddhav Thackeray Saheb tolerates such language, what can we say?" he asked. Shirsat also targeted UBT spokesperson Sanjay Raut, "Who hates Rashmi Shukla ever since she became the DGP". "If you feel scared, don't say anything on the phone that will make you feel scared. Who will be tapping your phones and why? Nobody has got the time for tapping the phones of people like you". Shirsat alleged that currently there is a "pattern of contempt for women" in the Thackeray group. UNI VKB SSP ...////...
