Mumbai, Oct 12 (Reporter) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena and the rival Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) hold Dussehra rallies on Saturday in Mumbai, in a show of strength as the state Assembly election nears. Shiv Sena (UBT) is holding its annual rally at historic Shivaji Park in Dadar, whereas Shinde is to address his faction at Azad Maidan in south Mumbai. Both venues have been left muddy after Thursday night's heavy rains. According to sources, the number of supporters in the Uddhav Thackeray's rally are more as compared to Shinde's rally. After the split in Shiv Sena, Shinde held his first Dussehra rally at Bandra-Kurla Complex, however for last two years, the rally is being conducted at Azad Maidan. To facilitate smooth transit for the attendees and maintain law and order, the Mumbai Traffic police have diverted the traffic at various points and heavy 'bandobast' of security forces have been deployed. As the Election Commission of India will announce the assembly election schedule any day, the Dussehra rallies play a crucial role in election campaign strategies.
