Maha: Submit comprehensive proposal to provide relief to tribal farmers: DyCM

Mumbai, Jul 30 (Reporter) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, Ajit Pawar, on Tuesday asked the Tribal Development and Cooperation departments to jointly prepare a comprehensive proposal to provide relief to 9,698 tribal farmers in the state who are left out of the institutional crop loan scheme due to various reasons. Presiding over a meeting held in his ministry regarding various demands of tribal development and cooperatives in the state, he said that for all-round development of the tribals in the state and to bring them into the mainstream of development, the various schemes of the state government should be effectively communicated to them so that they can benefit from them. He further said that it is necessary to provide relief to tribal farmers who have been deprived of benefits of the central government's loan waiver in 2008, state government's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shetkari Samman Yojana-2017 and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Shetkari Karjmukti Yojana-2019 due to some reasons. Since 2008, 9,698 tribals in the state have been deprived of institutional crop loans due to non-loan waiver. At the time of implementation of the loan waiver scheme of the state government, funds were given by the Tribal Development department to help the tribal farmers but some of these funds remain unutilised, the DyCM said.
