Mumbai, Feb 10 (Reporter) A woman who allegedly slit her husband's throat was arrested by police along with her boyfriend who had allegedly helped her in dumping his body 500 metres from their residence, officials said here on Monday. The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Malvani police station in Mumbai on Sunday and the Mumbai police control room was informed early this morning that a man’s body was lying with its throat slit in the Soham compound of Malvani area of city. Thereafter, the local deputy commissioner of police (DCP) pressed multiple teams to solve the case. A police team, while scanning CCTV footage, spotted a woman and a man carrying the body on a two-wheeler. When the police checked footage from other CCTVs, they ascertained that the two suspects had come from the direction of the Gamdevi Temple. Police then started making inquiries and eventually managed to ascertain the identity of the deceased person as one Rajesh Chauhan (30). When the police reached his home, they found blood stains in the house. Police then subjected his wife Puja (30) to sustained interrogation, in which she admitted to having killed her husband and later dumped his body with the help of her friend Imran Mohammad Rizwan. She claimed that she was fed up with her husband’s drinking habit. He would come home drunk and beat her up. Out of frustration, she slit his throat on Sunday when their two kids were sleeping. After killing her husband, she woke up her friend Imran Rizwan, who also lives with them and hails from the same village. With the help of Rizwan, she dumped the body. "They covered Chauhan’s body with a bedsheet, pretending to take him to the hospital,” said a senior police officer.
