Maha women to get Rs 1500 a month allowance

Mumbai, June 28 (Reporter) The Maharashtra government on Friday announced “Mukhya Mantri Mazhi Ladki Bahin Yojana” under which a Rs-1500 allowance would be given every month to eligible poor women between 21 to 60 years of age. The scheme, to be implemented from July, would require Rs 46,000 crores annually. The monthly allowance scheme has been formulated for the overall progress of women, including economic independence, self-reliance, health and nutrition. Sharing details of the scheme while presenting Budget 2024-25, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar said, “Woman is the pillar of strength for the family. She has become the focal point of the entire society now. She fights on both the fronts of managing the family and earning income.” “We also see women who single-handedly take care of the family and raise successful children. It has become a rule now that the girls obtain the lead positions while results of various examinations get published. It is our duty, as the government, to open the doors of opportunity to our sisters and encourage them,” Ajit Pawar said. The government had earlier launched “Lek Ladki” scheme in 2023-24. Under this scheme, a total sum of Rs.1.01 lakh is provided in instalments from the birth of the girl till she turns 18.
