Mumbai, June 21 (Reporter) The BJP-led governments at the Centre and in Maharashtra have failed to check inflation and corruption that are hitting farmers the hardest, Pradesh Congress Committee president Nana Patole said on Friday.
He launched a 'Chhikkal Pheko' (mud-throwing) agitation across the state against the “corrupt Mahayuti government” to highlight poor law and order situation, unemployment and demand cancellation of NEET exam.
Addressing a press conference here at the party's state headquarters Tilak Bhavan, Patole said over 11 lakh farmers in the state were suffering due to rampant black marketing of seeds and fertilisers.
Severe drought has destroyed orchards of farmers but the state government has failed to help them, he said, highlighting steps taken by Congress party to offer relief to cultivators.
Patole also complained about a steep increase in the price of spray pumps for farmers from Rs 2700 to Rs 4500.
The state Congress chief hit out at the Central government for announcing a very small increase in the MSP of some crops. He said the hike was meagre as compared to inflation.
Demanding cancellation of the recent NEET exam, Patole said initially the Union Education Minister claimed that there was no paper leak but changed his stand when Rahul Gandhi took up the issue...////...
