Itanagar, June 13 (Reporter) After taking oath as Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh for the third consecutive term, Pema Khandu on Thursday asserted that his government’s main agenda will be to fulfill the promises made in his party BJP’s election manifesto. Asserting that the BJP government was committed to fulfilling all the promises made in the party election manifesto ‘Sankalp Patra’, Khandu said, “We will run the government in the next five years based on the election manifesto for the welfare and development of our people.” The newly sworn-in Chief Minister told newsmen that the first Cabinet meeting will chalk out and set the target of what works the government will do in its first 100 days. Khandu said that the people have voted BJP to power seeing the developmental works undertaken in North East and Arunachal Pradesh by the Narendra Modi government during the last 10 years and expressed confidence that central government's blessings will be upon Arunachal Pradesh in the days to come. He appealed to the people to join hands with the government and get involved in its developmental programs. “We will take the state to new heights on developmental front in the spirit of ‘Team Arunachal’,” the CM vowed. To a poser on the induction of a female lawmaker in his Cabinet, Khandu said, “You all know that we in BJP always talk about women empowerment. As the Parliament has passed the Women Reservation Bill, Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, brought in by the previous BJP-led NDA Government, the legislation has to be rolled out by 2029, and in Arunachal Pradesh as well, the Assembly will have 33 percent seats reservation for the women.” “Taking this into consideration, we have inducted one woman in the Cabinet and tried to send the message that the womenfolk have to be ready to take up the cudgels in the coming days,” he added.
