Bhubaneswar, Dec 28 (Reporter) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday directed officials to ensure that no farmer affected by unseasonal rains is left without assistance.
Majhi, who reviewed the crop damage caused by unseasonal rains in the state between December 20 and December 28, instructed the concerned departmental officers to make certain that every affected farmer receives aid.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of identifying the genuinely affected farmers and completing an accurate assessment of crop damage by December 30.
During the meeting, it was decided that all affected farmers, whether insured or not, would receive assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) as soon as possible, under the rules of the state and central governments.
Majhi also instructed the launch of a massive awareness campaign to ensure that all insured farmers inform their respective insurance companies about their losses and damages within the stipulated time frame.
According to official sources, about 1.26 lakh farmers have so far reported their losses under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
The Chief Minister appealed through the media to all insured farmers to report their crop losses by tomorrow (Sunday).
He also urged registered farmers from various districts to immediately report their losses due to unseasonal rains via the “Krishi Rakshak” portal or by calling 14447.
