Mamata appeals to people of Bengal to maintain peace

Kolkata, Aug 5 (Reporter) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday appealed to the people of Bengal to maintain peace following the developments in neighbouring Bangladesh. " Do not pay attention to any kind of rumours. This is a matter between two countries, we will support whatever decision the Central government takes, " Banerjee stated. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and flew to India in the wake of a military coup amidst escalating violence that took 99 lives on Sunday including those of police personnel and protestors demanding her resignation. Over 300 persons have perished in Bangladesh in clashes since last month as students hit the streets demanding an end to the quota system in government jobs...////...
