Shillong, Nov 16 (Reporter) A man died and a lady pillion rider was injured after their motorcycle was hit by an escort vehicle of Meghalaya Tourism Minister Paul Lyndoh along the Shillong by-pass, police said on Saturday. Lyngdoh was on his way to attend the Cherry Blossom Festival 2024 held at the Madan Kurkalang Stadium in Bhoirymbong, Ri-Bhoi district on Friday when the accident occurred. A police official said information was received at Umiam Police Station on Friday evening that the two persons involved in a road accident were brought to Holy Cross Hospital at Umbir. Police identified the deceased as Huddersfield Rymbui (30) of Nongtalang Mission, West Jaintia Hills, and the injured as Daphisha Dkhar( 30) of Madanrting, Shillong. “On enquiry it was ascertained that the bike met with an accident with the police escort vehicle . Unfortunately, the driver of the bike was declared dead and the lady pillion rider survived with minor injuries,” the police official said.
