This marks United’s worst opening to a season in 35 years, with only three wins from their first nine games. Ten Hag’s dismissal comes despite some success during his tenure, including an EFL Cup victory in 2022-23 and an FA Cup title in the 2023-24 season. Former United striker and Ten Hag’s assistant, Ruud van Nistelrooy, has been named interim manager.
