Sangli, May 14 (Reporter) A Mandal officer and a private agent were arrested by Anti-Corruption Beureu (ACB) on Tuesday while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 7,500 from a complainant at Palus tehsil office of the district. Mandal officer Tanaji Shamrao Pawar had demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe from complainant for giving his approval on a document related to purchase of a new land by his friend in Palus tehsil town of the district. And he had told complainant to give bribe amount to his agent Prasad Gajanan Chavan. Later, the matter was settled at Rs 7,500, a press release issued by ACB said here. Then, complainant informed about this to city unit of ACB, whose team laid a trap at Palus tehsil office and caught red-handed Chavan while accepting bribe money from complainant on behalf of Mandal officer.
