Imphal, Feb 14 (Reporter) Manipur Police have arrested ten persons including five militants who took part in a football match at Kangpokpi district by carrying sophisticated weapons, an official said on Friday.
A person involved in selling SIM cards using fake documents was also nabbed.
The Manipur Police official said a video emerged on social media in which around 15 miscreants in camouflage attire and some people in football kits were seen holding sophisticated arms at K. Gamnomphai Village Ground during a football match.
Five of these 15 persons were apprehended on Wednesday and identified as Mangtinlen Kipgen, Mangtinlen Kipgen, Seithenmang Kipgen, Lunminsei Kipgen and Lunkhogin Kipgen.
Police on Thursday launched operations at Kangpokpi and seized one .303 Sniper Rifle (modified), Pistol with magazine, SBBL Gun, Long Range Projectile Launcher (Pumpi), Long Range Projectile Launcher (Bomb), Hand Grenade and Wireless Set.
In another incident on Thursday police seized an Assault Rifle (7.62 mm type Bl, Mortar (Pumpi), and large numbers of arms and ammunition at Geljang and Teijang under Chakpikarong police station in Chandel district.
Carrying out a further raid on the same day, the police arrested two active cadres of the KCP (Noyon) organisation from Thangmeiband and Keishampat in Imphal West district.
The police also arrested two cadres of the KCP (PWG) organisation from Sangaiyumpham Nungphou Samaram Road under Thoubal police station in Thoubal district.
In Churachandpur district, a team of security forces and the Forest Department destroyed illicit poppy cultivation at Changpikot hill range near Kotzim village under Churachandpur police station. About 5 acres of illicit poppy plants were destroyed and ten poppy pods were seized as evidence.
One person was arrested from Imphal East district for selling pre-activated black SIMs on fake/fabricated identities. Non-judicial stamps, SIM cards, 31 suspected black SIM Cards marked as MNP SIM, 24 suspected Black SIM Cards marked as 5G plus and many other documents were seized...////...
