Manipur CM distributes aid to disabled persons

Imphal, Jan 25 (Reporter) Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh distributed advanced prosthetic devices including State-of-the-Art Myoelectric Hands and Motorized Wheelchairs, to persons with Disabilities (PwDs) at the Secretariat on Saturday. The Chief Minister stated that after the formation of the BJP-led government in 2017, the government has been launching various schemes to aid the marginal section of society and to assist persons with disability. He spoke on schemes including Chief Minister-gi Hakselgi Tengbang (CMHT), Chief Minister-gi Sotharabasingi Tengbang and School Fagathansi Mission among others. Singh said under Chief Minister-gi Sotharabasingi Tengbang scheme, a sum of Rs 1500 each has been provided to around 9000 disabled persons as a part of assistance. The Chief Minister maintained that the government had been working continuously for the welfare of its people and would consistently put all efforts to help meet the needs of the people. He added that the government has been extending assistance to disabled persons and would continue to support them. As a human being, we must respect and treat every human equally without being biased, he said. The Chief Minister instructed the Director, Social Welfare Department, and other officials of the department present at the function to provide further assistance to persons with disabilities, making them economically viable and enabling them to earn their living, he added.
