Manipur: Police nab four armed miscreants

Imphal, Dec 14 (Reporter) Manipur Police and security personnel arrested four armed miscreants, including one KNF cadre, from Laijang village, Churachandpur District, for terrorizing villagers by brandishing weapons and destroyed illegal poppy plantations used for drugs. Police said on Friday search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces. During the search operations, one MA4 assault rifle, one 12-bore single-barrel gun, one 9 mm pistol, one .32 pistol, five hand grenades, five arming rings, two detonators, an Internet satellite antenna, an Internet satellite router, and large numbers of ammunitions were recovered. Manipur Police arrested one active cadre of KCP (PWG) identified as Jiban from Bamdiar Awang Leikai. From his disclosure, large numbers of arms and ammunition were also recovered. Security forces arrested four armed miscreants, including one KNF cadre, from Laijang village, Churachandpur District, for terrorising the villagers of Laijang by brandishing weapons. They were identified as Thangsiam Haokip, Kamlian, and Malsom Jaipu Doujaithang (42). From their possession, arms and ammunition, including a Myanmar assault rifle, were seized. A joint team of Manipur Police, the Forest Department, and Assam Rifles conducted poppy destruction at the Khamasom hill ranges under Ukhrul PS, Ukhrul District, and 110 acres of poppy plantation were destroyed. Eight huts found in the fields were burnt down. Manipur Police conducted poppy destruction at the hill range of Molham village under Kasom Khullen-PS, Kamjong District. About 10 acres of poppy plantation were destroyed. Two alleged poppy cultivators identified as Pamchuingam Rimai and Lifeson Lanjha from Leikoiching village were arrested. Manipur Police also apprehended one juvenile from Awang Khunou Maning Leikai under Patsoi PS, Imphal West District, in connection with the vandalism of the residence of elected representatives in an incident on Nov 16. Manipur Police recovered 150 soap cases of brown sugar weighing a total of 5.87 kg (including the weight of the soap cases) from the house of one N. Sohrii in Chiphaodai village near Khabung Karong under Senapati PS, Senapati District. Four individuals were arrested in connection with the illegal drugs who were identified as Khovi, Raivikho, Lovi, and Veipoukho...////...
