Maratha community misled on reservation issue: Patole

Mumbai, Jan 25 (Reporter) Targeting the state's Mahayuti government, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Nana Patole alleged on Thursday that the Maratha community has only been "misled" in the name of reservation. Accusing the Shinde-BJP government of "failure" on the reservation issue, Patole said, "Quota activist Manoj Jarange-Patil has started a big movement to demand reservation for the Maratha community. Previously, the government held discussions with him, made announcements, and even issued statements that the government would give reservations to the Maratha community, but so far nothing has happened. "The government has been misleading the Maratha community. Even after the Maratha Morcha, headed by Jarange-Patil, announced that they would come to Mumbai, the government did not take immediate steps." Patole further said that representatives of the government had held discussions with Jarange-Patil many times on behalf of the Shinde-BJP government. Two government ministers were constantly in touch with him, but now these two ministers are not to be seen anywhere. "Why are these ministers not holding discussions now?" he asked. He said the deadline given by Jarange-Patil to the government for implementing reservations has expired, and the date set by the government too has expired. But even then, no decision has been taken regarding reservations. "The government is only giving dates to the Maratha community and not taking any decision to give reservations to the community. This attitude is a gross insult to the Maratha community," he said. Patole mentioned that Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had said that if he comes to power, he will give reservations to the Maratha community within a month. "He had also said, 'it is only the Fadnavis who has the courage to give reservations to the Maratha community'. It has been one and half years since the Shinde-BJP government was formed in the state, but even then, Fadnavis has not been able to give reservations to the Marathas. "What happened to the big announcement made by Devendra Fadnavis? Why are Devendra Fadnavis and the BJP silent on the Maratha reservation now?" He queried...////...
