Mumbai, Feb 27 (Reporter) Reacting over presentation of first interim budget for the year 2024-25 by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday in the Maharashtra Legislature, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly and Congress leader, Vijay Wadettiwar, criticised the Mahayuti government's budget, terming it as a new proposal of the old plan.
He charged that the state government has presented a meaningless budget that cheats farmers, unemployed, middle-class of the state.
The government has slapped the state with a budget that shows the daydream of development, he noted and maintained that there is a train of false announcements and empty promises in this budget.
"It is no longer hidden that the fiscal deficit of Rs 99,000 crore means that the state has started moving
towards bankruptcy," he said.
Wadettiwar further said that despite a surge in farmers' suicides in the state, there is no concrete provision for farmers in this budget.
