Meghalaya: Amit Shah inaugurates cyber security operations centre

Shillong, Jan 18 (Reporter) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday inaugurated a state-of-the-art cyber security operations centre at Assam Rifles headquarters here in Meghalaya. The cyber security operations centres, the first of its kind among central armed police forces (CAPFs), will strengthen the cyber security posture of the Force by carrying out real time monitoring of the network, mitigation of external threats and prevention of cyber violations in Assam Rifles Wide Area Network (ARWAN), an official statement said. Shah appreciated the concerted efforts of Assam Rifles in ensuring seamless & secure digital services within the Force. Director General of Assam Rifles, Lieutenant General Pradeep Chandran Nair and senior security officials were present at the inauguration. The centre has been equipped with state-of-the-art network and data monitoring devices to provide 24 x 7 services,” the statement said. “The increased cyber attacks in present times has made it imperative to safeguard our networks from nefarious intruders, hacking and other cyber incursions,” the statement said, adding that the present infrastructure enables integration and management of diverse aspects affiliated with our operations.
