Mumbai, Jan 14 (Reporter) Former Union Minister and Congress leader Milind Deora resigned from the primary membership of the party on Sunday and is all set to join Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Deora, a two-time Congress MP, made the announcement on his X (formerly Twitter) handle. The decision marks a significant chapter in his political journey, ending his family's 55-year relationship with the Congress. Deora expressed his gratitude to all the leaders, colleagues, and karyakartas for their unwavering support throughout the years. "Today marks the conclusion of a significant chapter in my political journey. I have tendered my resignation from the primary membership of the Congress, ending my family's 55 year relationship with the party. I am grateful to all leaders, colleagues and karyakartas for their unwavering support over the years," Deora said in his post. According to the Itinerary issued from his office, Deora will be joining Shinde faction Sena later in the day at at Chief Minister Shinde's residence along with ten former congress corporators and hundreds of activists. Deora, recently appointed joint treasurer of the All India Congress Committee, had reportedly expressed disapproval over the Shiv Sena (Uddhav BalasahebThackeray) staking claim to the Mumbai South Lok Sabha seat. The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) is a part of the opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Milind Deora, son of Congress veteran Murli Deora, had won the Mumbai South seat in 2004 and 2009. He ended up as the first runner-up in the subsequent elections in 2014 and 2019 against undivided Shiv Sena leader Arvind Sawant.
