Mixed reactions in Bengal on Union Budget for 25-26

Kolkata, Feb 1 (Reporter) The Union Budget 2025-26 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament on Saturday evoked mixed reactions in West Bengal. State ruling Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee said the budget has " nothing" for Bengal but opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari said the budget is for the " middle class" society. Banerjee, who is known as No 2 leader next to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claimed that the Union Budget has "nothing" for West Bengal. He alleged that their state continued to remain "deprived" under the BJP-led NDA rule at the Centre. He said several announcements were made for Bihar owing to the coming assembly polls there. Adhikari, however, expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and union Finance Minister and described them as " Modinomics' and saluted them. He said Union Budget 2025 focused on GYAN (Gareeb, Youth, Annadata Farmers, and Nari). " Thrilled to know that no income tax has to be paid up to Rs 12 lakh. Huge relief for the Middle Class; the consistent Tax Payers of the Country. " The Senior Citizens would greatly benefit from the increase in TDS exemptions on interest from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000," the Nandigram MLA said. " It's a Budget for our Youth with Schools getting broadband facilities, focus on AI education boost and creation of new medical seats," the BJP leader said on his X handle...////...
