Mizoram Budget session to begin on Feb 19

Aizawl, Feb 9(Reporter) The Mizoram state legislative assembly is set to convene its budget session from February 19. At least two government bills have already been submitted for introduction, and a state university bill is also expected to be tabled. Assembly Secretariat officials confirmed on Sunday that bills from the Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (LESDE) and Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) Departments have been submitted. Additional bills, including the state university bill from the Higher & Technical Education department, are also expected. So far, the Assembly Secretariat has received at least 317-starred questions and 35 unstarred questions, along with one private resolution. Chief Minister Lalduhoma, who handles the Finance portfolio, will present the state’s annual budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year on March 4, along with supplementary demands for the ongoing financial year. This marks the second annual budget presentation by Lalduhoma since his Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) government took office in December 2023.
