Washim (Maharashtra), Oct 5 (Reporter) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a stringent attack on the Congress describing it as "anti-farmer" and accused the grand old party of "heaping insults" on the banjara community when it was in power after independence.
The PM also inaugurated a slew of projects including the distribution of the next installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in Washim district of Maharashtra.
Modi praised the state government's beloved sister scheme (Ladki Bahin Yojana) saying two and a half crore women have benefitted from it .
The Prime Minister said the scheme is an important step to empower women.
While waxing eloquent on the Banjara community's contribution to the country, he alleged that it was treated as criminalis by the British, and after independence Congress too ignored the community.
Accusing the Congress of "heaping humiliation" on the Banjara community, the Prime Minister said the "ideology of Congress is a foreign ideology", which has harmed the Banjara community.
Taking on the erstwhile Mahavikas Aghadi government, Modi alleged it withheld funds for the development of the Pohradevi shrine. In contrast, current Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has given huge funds for the development of Pohradevi shrine, he said.
Alleging that the Congress is now run by urban Naxalites, he said: "We all need to come together to save the country. Congress is anti-farmer. Farmers in Maharashtra are pillars of support of the NDA government. Farmers' electricity bill has been reduced to zero," he said.
He accused the Congress of oppressing the farmers and pushing them into disaster.
Referring to the Congress government in Karnataka, he alleged that it has adopted "anti-farmer" policies, and increased seed rates. He also claimed that in Maharashtra, irrigation projects were stopped when Congress was in power...////...
