Monsoon rains lash Marathwada region of Maharashtra

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, June 10 (Reporter) Monsoon rains accompanied by gusty winds hit different parts of eight districts of the Marathwada region of Maharashtra bringing relief to people from the June heat as well as smile on the faces of farmers who were eagerly awaiting the showers. According to the official sources an average 28.7mm rainfall was recorded in the region. Latur district recorded heaviest downpour of 63.7 mm during the past 24 hours followed by Dharshiv 45.1 mm, Jalna 43.5 mm, Beed 28.4 mm, Parbhani 23.3 mm, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar 19.4 mm, Nanded 9.9 mm and Hingoli 4.4 mm. The Meteorological Department has forecast monsoon rains will hit across the Konkan region of Sindhudurg and Raigad, Ahmednagar and Nashik in central Maharashtra, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Jalna and Dharshiv in Marathwada region . According to weatherman, favourable conditions are available for the arrival of monsoon in different parts in state.
