Mumbai, Jun 12 (Reporter) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Nana Patole on Wednesday accused the BJP government at the Centre of consistently discriminating against the state. Speaking on this issue, he said that the central government get most of the funds from all types of tax collections, including GST, from Maharashtra but when it comes to giving funds, the state is given very little. After the new NDA government was formed under the leadership of Narendra Modi, funds were distributed to the states. Among these, BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh received the highest amount of Rs 25,000 crore, Madhya Pradesh received Rs 10,970 crore, Bihar, led by Nitish Kumar who is part of the NDA government, received Rs 14,000 crore and Andhra Pradesh, whose leader Chandrababu Naidu supports the central government, has been given a substantial amount of Rs 5,622 crore, he elucidated. However, the states with opposition party governments have been given less funds, he pointed and informed that Karnataka, where the Congress is in power, has been given Rs 5,000 crore and Punjab, where the Aam Aadmi Party is in power, has been given Rs 2,525 crore. This money belongs to the common taxpayer and is supposed to be used for them, but the BJP government is deliberately discriminating in allocation of funds, thus being unfair to the people, he charged. Despite having a BJP-led government in the state, Maharashtra was given only Rs 8,000 crore, leaving the state dissatisfied, the MPCC chief said and claimed that the state government has not succeeded in securing more funds from the Centre. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar lack courage to demand more funds for the state from Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he further claimed. They are content with whatever they receive from Delhi, which is extremely unfortunate for the state, he argued. Even when the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government was in power, the BJP government at the Centre deliberately discriminated in fund distribution, recalled Patole. The people of Maharashtra will take note of injustice being done by the BJP government at the Centre and will show them their place in upcoming assembly elections, just as they did in the Lok Sabha elections, he added...////...
