Mumbai, Jun 17 (Reporter) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president, Nana Patole, on Monday criticised the ruling Mahayuti government over its handling of drought-like situation and apathetic attitude towards people who are suffering due to severe scarcity of water in many parts of the state.
Talking to media in Nagpur, he said that drought situation in the state is very serious.
Farmers suffering from drought-like condition are allegedly committing suicide, he said and noted that many women and children have lost their lives due to heatstroke in various parts of the state while searching for water.
On other hand, many people have died in explosions and accidents, he said.
The government should make public data of how many people have died due to heatstroke in the state, he demanded.
But the state government is only engaged in floating tenders, distributing funds and taking commissions, he alleged.
The MPCC chief further said that although the month of June has nearly come to an end, it has not yet rained in many parts of the state.
As a result, people have no water to drink while animals have neither water to drink nor fodder, he pointed.
In such a grim situation, tanker mafia is fleecing people and fake seeds are being rampantly sold in the state, he alleged and said that however, the government is nowhere to be seen.
When the state is facing such a dire situation, the ministers of the ruling party are going abroad and enjoying the winters, he said in a jibe and asked had these ministers taken prior permission for the same from the central government.
"Who is paying for their foreign trip? The government should give answers to these questions," he demanded.
Observing that the Chief Minister has no control over the ministers and the administration, Patole predicted that this government will not come back to power after the Mahayuti's crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections in the state.
Realizing this, people in the government are doing only one job of floating tenders, distributing funds and taking commissions, he charged and claimed that they have nothing to do with the life and death of people.
Talking about scam in NEET examination, he said that the future of lakhs of students has become bleak due to the NEET paper leak and subsequent confusion.
Students are protesting at various places, but the government has not yet taken notice of these issues, he added...////...
