MPCC chief takes dig at PM Modi

Mumbai, Apr 20 (Reporter) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Nana Patole on Saturday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that he is afraid of China, the northern neighbour of India. Drawing attention to Modi's speech today at a campaign rally in Parbhani, he said that Modi claimed to have conducted surgical strikes by entering homes of terrorists. "If what he says is true, then Modi should have taken a similar action against China, which encroached into India's border, seized our territory and killed our 20 soldiers but despite that, why he has not reacted till date against the northern neighbour," he asked. Accusing Modi and BJP of misleading the countrymen by raising issue of partition of the country, the MPCC chief clarified that Modi's allegation that Congress was responsible for the partition is completely false. "It is wrong to expect anything different from Modi, who was trained to lie by BJP's parent organisation the RSS, but a person holding the post of Prime Minister is expected to speak with sound knowledge," he said. "Actually, BJP, Jan Sangh or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh have had no contribution in the freedom movement," he noted. Claiming that Modi is not at all concerned about farmers of Marathwada, Patole said that farmers did not get any price for crops such as soybean, bajra, sorghum and cotton during the BJP government's 10-year rule. While farmers of Marathwada were in trouble, BJP was busy splitting political parties instead of helping them, he alleged.
