Kolkata, Feb 5 (Reporter) Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani on Wednesday appealed to the investors to invest in West Bengal as it is the best time for investment and announced to invest Rs 50,000 crore in next five years.
He said he comes every year since the 2015 first Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) when his company invested Rs 16,000 crore and now it crossed Rs 50,000 crore. Ambani announced further investment of Rs 50,000 crore for the next 5 years and it will create more than 100,000 jobs in communication sectors like digital and AI.
The Reliance Industries CMD said Reliance investments surpassed 20 times in 10 years and
pledged to double this investment by the end of the decade and create employment to about 100,000 direct jobs and economic growth of the region.
He said traditionally western India was an investment area but now eastern India was the best destination for investment and appealed to those who didn't do so far to have a look for east.
Mukesh said with supportive Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal was gaining an advantageous site for digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Ambani was speaking at the opening of BGBS at New Town where some 5000 delegates and representatives from 40 countries have assembled for the two-day summit.
He said West Bengal has a special advantage in the era of the knowledge economy, that is AI and
assured his company plans to make it happen in Kolkata as a focal point.
Ambani said JIO progressed well in the state and its network now covers 100 percent of West Bengal’s population. The Reliance Industries CMD also lauded the citizens of Kolkata as the place
has the best users among the customers across the country.
He said Artificial Intelligence is indispensable for India's transformation into a deep tech nation with advanced manufacturing capabilities.
Mukesh said JIO is currently building the world's best infrastructure in India. "Jio is not just the number one digital services provider, it is the number one data company in the world...", the Reliance Chief said.
Jindal Group Chief Sajjan Jindal said his company will invest Rs 16,000 crore for development of Bengal's airport at Durgapur and power plant at Salboni.
Ambuja Group head Harsh Neotia said his company will invest Rs 1200 crore for the hospitality sector.
Earlier, Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the 8th BGBS in presence of all invitees, including that of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren...////...
