Mumbai hit-and-run case: Mihir Shah moves HC for release

Mumbai, Aug 19 (Reporter) Mihir Shah, the prime accused in last month’s BMW hit-and-run incident in which a woman was killed in Mumbai’s Worli, has moved the Bombay High Court seeking immediate release while claiming that his arrest is illegal. A division bench of Justices Bharati H Dangre and Manjusha A Deshpande is likely to hear his plea on Wednesday. In his habeas corpus petition filed on August 14, Shah, 24, claimed that remand orders were passed against him without following the due process. Shah is the son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah who was also arrested before being granted bail in the case. In the July 7 accident, 45-year-old fisherwoman Kaveri P. Nakhwa was killed and Shah was arrested two days later...////...
